A Prayer for a Child Facing Injury or Illness | Your Nightly Prayer

Few things feel as heartbreaking as seeing a child face injury, illness, or a frightening diagnosis. This devotional begins from a place of personal vulnerability—the author shares her own fear and anxiety while facing serious medical uncertainty, and that experience opens her eyes even more to the heavy burden children and their families carry. If it’s difficult for an adult to process testing, procedures, and “what if” thoughts, it’s almost unimaginable to consider what it’s like for a child who may not fully understand what’s happening or why. In moments like these, fear can take over quickly. Questions swirl, worst-case scenarios creep in, and daily life becomes hard to focus on. Yet the devotional reminds us that God meets us right in that fear. Isaiah 41:10 is offered as an anchor—God does not leave His people to face hard things alone. He strengthens, helps, and upholds. And while the original words were spoken in a specific context, the heart of the promise reflects God’s unchanging character: He is present with His children in suffering. This devotional also highlights something practical and powerful: prayer. Whether you’re a parent walking through a child’s illness, a loved one supporting a family, or someone who simply feels burdened for children who are suffering, prayer is a meaningful response. Scripture encourages believers to bring sickness and pain before the Lord and to pray as a community. Even when we can’t fix the situation, we can entrust children and their families to the God who can comfort, protect, and provide peace beyond understanding. Today’s prayer is an invitation to ask God to surround hurting children with His peace, strengthen their families, and bring healing and hope. And it’s a reminder that God is good—able to do far more than we can imagine—especially in the hardest places. Main Takeaways Children facing injury or illness carry heavy fears, and their families carry deep burdens too. Medical uncertainty can stir anxiety and “what if” thinking, but God meets us in that fear. God promises His presence, strength, and help—He does not abandon us in suffering. Prayer is a powerful way to support hurting children and families, even from a distance. God can bring comfort, peace, and healing in ways beyond what we can imagine. Today’s Bible Verse “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” - Isaiah 41:10 Your Daily Prayer Here is a brief excerpt from today’s prayer: “Please help every child who is going through various treatments and surround them with the peace that only You can provide.”

God Is Working in the Waiting | Your Nightly Prayer

Waiting is one of the hardest parts of life—whether you’re stuck in traffic, waiting on medical results, longing for reconciliation, or hoping God will open a door that still feels shut. It’s tempting to assume that “nothing is happening” simply because you can’t see movement. But God doesn’t waste waiting. Scripture reminds us that His timing is not neglect—it’s mercy, wisdom, and purpose. When answers delay, the Lord is still good to those who seek Him. He is shaping endurance, deepening trust, and strengthening hope in ways that often only form in the slow spaces. Tonight, instead of measuring God’s faithfulness by speed, we can measure it by His presence. He is with you in the waiting, and He is working—even when you can’t yet see the outcome. TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE “The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him.” — Lamentations 3:25 YOUR NIGHTLY PRAYER Dear God, Waiting feels heavy tonight. I confess how easily I grow weary, discouraged, and tempted to believe You’ve forgotten me. Please forgive me for trying to force outcomes or letting fear and frustration lead my thoughts. Lord, teach me to seek You here—right in the middle of the unknown. Give me patient endurance to keep trusting You when I don’t have answers. Remind me that Your delays are not denial, and Your silence is not absence. Fill me with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Help me rest in Your plans over my own, and strengthen my hope as I wait for You to move. Thank You that You are good to those who seek You, and that my waiting is not wasted in Your hands. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Prayer to Desire What God Desires for Your Life | Your Daily Prayer

It’s natural to make plans and build dreams for the future—sometimes down to the smallest details. But this devotional reminds us that God often reshapes our desires in unexpected ways, not to disrupt us, but to lead us into something better than we would have chosen on our own. The author shares a personal story of feeling settled and satisfied with “the plan,” only to sense a growing restlessness and lack of purpose. That discomfort became an invitation: not to work harder or force a new direction, but to draw closer to God.

A New Beginning Every Day | Your Daily Prayer

Jesus, Tonight, shame wants to keep me awake—replaying what I said, what I did, and what I wish I could undo. But I bring it all to You. Thank You for being tender with my weakness and patient with my growth. When I’m tempted to condemn myself, remind me of Your mercy and Your cross, of the forgiveness You offered even in suffering. Help me receive Your grace deep in my soul, not as a concept, but as comfort and truth. Where I need to repent, lead me gently. Where I need to make things right, give me courage. And where I can’t change what’s already done, help me release it into Your hands. Thank You that in You I am a new creation, and that You are still transforming me. Quiet my mind, guard my heart, and let Your love be louder than my shame. In Your Name, Amen.

A Prayer to Cherish and Uphold the Sanctity of Life | Your Daily Prayer

Sanctity of Life Day is a reminder that human life is not accidental or ordinary—it is created, intentional, and sacred. This devotional centers on the biblical truth that people have value because they are made in God’s image. Our worth isn’t earned by performance, productivity, age, ability, or circumstance. It’s given by the Creator who formed us, knows us, and calls us His. The devotional also emphasizes God’s personal involvement in every life. Scripture describes Him as the One who sees us before we’re even fully formed, who writes our days with purpose, and who breathes life into humanity. That means every person carries God-given dignity and is never invisible to Him. From the beginning, God’s hand has been on our lives—shaping, guiding, and appointing good works for us to walk in. Because life is sacred to God, His people are called to value it too. That includes choosing life in our own hearts and decisions, and also standing up for those who are overlooked, vulnerable, or not valued by the world around them. The devotional calls believers to reflect God’s heart by protecting, honoring, and advocating for human dignity—speaking up, showing compassion, and living with conviction that every life is worthy of care and protection. Today is an invitation to gratitude for the gift of life, and a renewed commitment to represent God well—by cherishing life the way He does.

Finding Joy in the Cold | Your Nightly Prayer

Winter can feel endless—more darkness, colder days, and the temptation to just “get through” until spring arrives. But Scripture calls us to rejoice in the Lord always and give thanks in all circumstances, even when we don’t love the season we’re in. Paul wrote “Rejoice… always” while in prison and no stranger to hardship. That makes his instruction even more striking: joy isn’t rooted in comfort, but in Christ. Contentment grows when we look to Jesus as our strength and choose to praise Him in every season. If we’re willing to look, even winter holds reminders of God’s beauty and grace—like snow that reflects the Creator’s majesty and points us to the One who makes us clean and new. TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” — Philippians 4:4 YOUR NIGHTLY PRAYER God, In these cold, dark days, I admit I’m tempted to rush past this season and wish it away. I want warmth, light, and new life. But tonight, I ask You to teach me to rejoice in You—not only when life feels bright and easy, but even when it feels quiet, bleak, or heavy. Lord, train my heart for contentment. Help me remember that joy isn’t something I manufacture through better circumstances; it’s something I receive as I look to You. When I’m tired, discouraged, or impatient, be my strength. Open my eyes to see Your goodness in the middle of winter. Let the beauty in this season remind me that You are kind, steady, and faithful—and that in Christ You have covered my sin and given me Your righteousness. As I rest tonight, help me rejoice in You again. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Prayer to Walk in Godly Character | Your Daily Prayer

Talent can impress, but character impacts people and environments in lasting ways. Integrity in small choices reveals what’s happening in the heart and shapes our witness. Christians are called to be ambassadors, representing God’s kingdom everywhere we go. Colossians 3:23 encourages us to work and live wholeheartedly as if serving the Lord. Godly character can draw others toward Christ through humility, consistency, and love.

A Prayer to Renew Your Mind and Transform Your Thoughts | Your Daily Prayer

When life feels heavy, it doesn’t just affect our schedules—it affects our thoughts. This devotional begins with a picture of community: a small group faithfully studying Scripture together in the middle of real-life chaos—toddlers, teens, and nonstop responsibilities. But even in that meaningful rhythm, they began to notice something: resistance. Delays, disruptions, sickness, financial strain, and unexpected emergencies kept piling up, and it felt as if something was actively working against their time in the Word. That experience leads to an important reminder: spiritual battles often show up first in the mind. When pressure increases, discouragement can settle in, and the patterns of the world can begin to shape what we believe, fear, or chase. That’s why Romans 12:2 is so central here—renewal isn’t just about trying harder; it’s about being transformed from the inside out. When our minds are renewed, we begin to see more clearly, discern God’s will, and resist the pull of destructive patterns. The devotional also points out that when believers feel divided, distracted, or weighed down, returning to the basics matters. We don’t fight heaviness with more noise—we fight it with truth, community, and grace. That can look like meeting regularly with other believers, standing firm together in God’s Word, and speaking Scripture aloud so truth gets deeper than emotion. It also means giving ourselves grace when we fail—remembering that confession and repentance are gifts, not punishments. Renewing your mind is a daily practice. It’s choosing, again and again, to let God’s promises reshape your thoughts instead of letting the world define them. And as God transforms your thinking, He strengthens your faith, grows unity with other believers, and steadies you for whatever comes next. Main Takeaways Spiritual heaviness often affects our thought life first, which is why renewing the mind is essential. God transforms us from the inside out as we resist the world’s patterns and cling to His truth. Community matters—meeting regularly with other believers strengthens faith and unity. Speaking Scripture aloud can help anchor truth in your heart and interrupt destructive thought patterns. Grace is part of renewal; when we fail, we can confess, repent, and start again with God’s help. Today’s Bible Verse Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. - Romans 12:2 Your Daily Prayer Here is a brief excerpt from today’s prayer: “Renew our minds, transform our thoughts, and give us the tools to lean into our faith when this life veers off course.”

Grace for the Unfinished Places | Your Nightly Prayer

Waiting is one of the hardest parts of life because most things take longer than we want them to. Maybe you’re waiting for a breakthrough, a healing, a restored relationship, a job, direction, or simply relief—and the delay is stretching your faith thin. The truth is, God works in both the sudden and the slow. Sometimes He answers quickly. Other times, He builds something deeper in us while we wait—patience, endurance, maturity, trust. And just because you don’t see movement doesn’t mean nothing is happening. Philippians 1:6 reminds us that God is not careless with unfinished things. He doesn’t begin work in you and then abandon the project. He is faithful. He is intentional. And He will carry His work forward until it is complete. So tonight, take comfort in this: your progress may feel slow, but God’s grip on your life is steady. Even in the delay, His grace is still active—and His timing is still good. TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” — Philippians 1:6 YOUR NIGHTLY PRAYER Heavenly Father, Teach me to wait with confidence in You and Your love. When life slows down, and answers take longer than I hope, remind me You are still at work. You never delay out of neglect, but out of love and wisdom. Help me to rest in Your timing, knowing You finish what You start. Strengthen my patience and faith in every season so my waiting is infused with worship and my heart rests in Your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Life out of control

Genesis 25:34–26:9 continues the powerful story of Jacob and Esau—a family torn apart by deceit, jealousy, and favoritism, yet held together by God’s redeeming grace. Though sin brings division and pain, God’s purposes never fail.

The Spiritual Battle

Genesis 25:19–26:33 reveals the inner spiritual battle between the flesh and the Spirit, as seen in the lives of Isaac, Jacob, and Esau. Fear, impulsiveness, and deception show how easy it is to follow the desires of our fallen nature, while God’s grace and guidance offer restoration and blessing.

Tim Conway Reflects on Life Before Fame and His Legendary Dentist Sketch

Tim Conway reflected on life before fame and his legendary dentist sketch. The late comedic legend spoke with fellow comedian Conan O’Brien about growing up, what he intended to do before show business and one of the funniest skits in television history. Watch the short but hysterical clip to hear from the one and only Tim Conway.

In terms of comedic television, it will be hard for anyone ever to top The Carol Burnett Show. The program is absolutely legendary, with clips of the show still making people burst into uncontrollable bouts of laughter decades after it ended its run on television. I challenge you to watch one of the show’s many skits and not burst out laughing at least once.

One of the main reasons the show was and is so beloved is because of its all-star cast. Carol Burnett, Harvey Korman and Vicki Lawrence are a heck of a talented lineup. Now, while the show was named after Carol, it was arguably Tim, another cast member, who stole the show most often. Anytime he was in a skit, you just knew something deliriously funny was not too far away.

While being interviewed by Conan O’Brien, Tim shared details about his life growing up in Northwest Ohio and how he originally wanted to be a jockey before show business got in the way.

Then, Tim shared some tidbits about the legendary dentist sketch, in which Harvey completely loses it, pretty much from the get-go. Tim, playing the dentist, accidentally injects himself with Novocain on several occasions, causing parts of his body to go to sleep.

Unbelievably, Tim mentioned that during his time in the Army, that exact thing happened to him when he went to see a dentist. That would have been more than a little frightening. The Carol Burnett Show version is a lot funnier, I’m sure.

Psalm 126:2 “Then our mouths were full of laughing, and our tongues gave a glad cry; they said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’”

A Prayer for Mission Trips and Serving Away from Home | Your Daily Prayer

If you have loved ones going on a mission trip—or if you’re preparing for one yourself—this devotional is an encouragement that you are not alone. God goes before His people, watches over them wherever they go, and promises not to leave them. That truth brings peace for the traveler and comfort for those who remain at home. Today’s focus is a call to cover missionaries in prayer: for spiritual strength, humility, cultural understanding, protection, and a Christ-like love that shines brightly in every place they serve.
