11-year-old Blake Walker stuns with this acoustic rendition of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah.’
The powerful song was originally released in 1984, but it wasn’t until Jeff Buckley released the song on his 1994 album, ‘Grace’ that the song really started to gain momentum.
Since that time, it’s become a worldwide phenomenon and truly cemented itself in music history. Over the years, many artists have covered the tune, which sounds like a perfect blend of a rock ballad and a gospel song.
“Well I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?”
Today, young Blake Walker is putting his own spin on this modern day classic. You may recognize Blake from the viral Rise Up Children’s Choir and Junior Choir. Over the years, this talented choir has performed countless covers of worship songs and contemporary hits. All of these performances have garnered millions of views online. Now, Blake is striking out on his own with a stunning acoustic rendition of ‘Hallelujah.’
“Well it goes like this
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah”
From the arrangement to the vocals, this Leonard Cohen cover is absolutely amazing. It’s wonderful to hear such a young talent share his gift with the world. There’s no doubt that Blake is a great vocalist and I hope that we continue to hear more from this teen in the future.

Check out this sweet video of hospice workers in the UK creating fake snow to honor one patient’s wish and bring a smile to her face!
In the video, a hospice worker brings a patient named Helen outside in her bed to enjoy seeing some fake snow that they made fall all around her. And the patient lights up at the magical sight! How heartwarming!
“Who saw our lovely clip of Helen enjoying her special wish for snow in the St Richard’s hospice gardens last week?” reads the caption of the video that was posted on Facebook. “We’ve been humbled by the reaction to the story, which has reached more than 100,000 people on our own social media and millions of others having been shared by news outlets across the world! It also saw supporters sharing some really moving stories about their experiences of our care; thank you to everyone who took the time to do so.”
The caption continues: “It is always our privilege to help make time spent at St Richard’s as personal and special to our patients and their loved ones as possible and, of course, none of that is possible without our incredible supporters. You see, while we deliver the Christmas magic, it’s you who makes it possible with your generous gifts and donations. Something which makes up more than three quarters of our funding. So, thank you - from us all.”
After seeing the video online, many people went on to share how the staff at St Richard served their loved ones so well while they were in their hospice care.
“During my wife’s Lesleys last 4 months of life, you gave her so much love. You were so kind to her. There will always be a place in my heart for you,” reads one Facebook comment.
“Wonderful, you did a similar thing for my mum who wanted to feel the sun on her face one more time,” writes another person online.
What a wonderful act of kindness from these hospice workers who go above and beyond to bring joy to their patients!
During the 2008 Christmas finale of the 5th season of the X Factor UK, finalist contestant, Alexandra Burke, stunned audience members and judges alike with this powerful performance of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah.’
Originally written for his 1984 album ‘Various Positions’, Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ found little success initially, but grew rapidly in popularity after being used in movies and TV shows in the early 2000s.
After rising in popularity in the early 2000s, hundreds of covers were released for ‘Hallelujah’ from various artists in many different languages. One such performance was by X Factor UK winner, Alexandra Burke.
The stage was set with a large tree covered in lights including a large Bethlehem star resting at the top. The mist rolled onto the stage and surrounded the singer as the familiar chords began to be played on the piano.
Alexandra looks angelic herself in a long shimmery golden gown, her hair cascading over her shoulders in long mermaid waves.
Her voice is strong and deep, and there is such presence in her performance as she begins to sing.
Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
And things definitely went ‘next level’ as a chorus of people dressed in all-white took the stage silently behind Alexandra. Around 2 minutes into the performance, their voices joined the singer, and it is truly powerful.
Alexandra released the condensed cover of the song during this episode of the X Factor, reaching the number one spot on the UK singles list just four days later. The single held the number one spot for three weeks, sold over one million copies, and eventually led to Alexa being signed to a recording contract!
“Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.” Revelations 19:6
As an artist, it's important for us to express what we feel and what our vision is. This is interpretation of the nativity and of the Angel's power that guided them. If we knew what the angel or the wisdom the wisemen heard ..this would be my interpretation..in essence of me within my own art, at this point in my life I would be the electric power the people saw and heard when they went to go find the baby...the fierceness of this story...and the baby, Christ, can be considered by the fierceness and to the knowledge of Christ being born in reference to the season the child within peoples hearts being born. Creation itself coming to life and the power to radiate and within reach for human minds to interpret.....the Nativity.

Check out Dennis Quaid making his Grand Ole Opry debut with a performance of his new song called ‘Friends.’
The song reveals the value of friendship, individuality, and acceptance. And it is universally relatable. Dennis Quaid shares a bit about what inspired him to write ‘Friends.’
“I wrote it the week after the riots. I was there in Los Angeles watching and I was just so saddened by it, having grown up as a kid in the ’60s. The riots were happening and the civil rights movement. There was a lot going on then, but it seemed like even with the strife that was going on, there was still a dialogue that was happening,” he shared.
“There were still people and faces to go with identification of those movements in that dialogue. Now days it doesn’t matter who you are, black or white or whatever, where are those people that are the voices of where we’re trying to go for all of us? And so, I just came home one night, sat down on the bed and it just spilled out in about 20 minutes.”
Dennis Quaid recorded the song in Los Angeles at NightBird Studios. “Underneath the Sunset Marquis Hotel in LA, there’s a studio down there and I just produced it myself. I took my guitar player Jamie. We rehearsed it a lot and then we went in and that’s one take. It’s very raw. There’s nothing added to it,” he said. “It’s two guitars and a vocal and so I think I might go in and re-record it as well for a radio versionI’m really excited about that and I think it could take on a life of its own.”
It’s great to see Dennis Quaid trying his hand at the country music scene, and we hope you enjoyed listening to his new song ‘Friends.’
