In life, it’s about the journey. However, in travel, it’s mostly about the destination. I find this to be true more often than not. People ask me all the time “where should I go?” and I usually answer back “what do you want to feel?” I am all about sensory immersion and that has everything to do with place. Because when the senses are stimulated the imagination runs wild. It can be Euphoric. Travel has that magical ability to be transformative; to literally change the course of a person’s life. When I was 14, I performed in a show called Peace Child. Not to brag but I was a part of three separate productions of that show in 1987, 1988, and 1989. One of the productions was located in what is now the former Soviet Union. We performed for children at Camp Artek just outside of Yalta. The show was in Russian and I was there for six weeks. Our outbound trip to Moscow was from Washington, DC but my return trip was through New York. My parents picked me up and we stayed in Manhattan for a few days. That trip changed my life. I knew from visiting those few days that I wanted to live in NYC. And nine years later I moved there. My point is, not every vacation is life-changing but be open to the possibility that the very next trip you take could change your life forever! Have a wonderful week and happy travels!
