In our culture here in the United States, we enter into relationships with our brain set on silent, and we exit relationships at the first sign of trouble. It is in this environment of such low expectations of ourselves and of others that we try to have high expectations of God. It is in this environment that we try to have faith in God.
It is with a mind full of human failures that we try to understand faith in God. And so we contaminate our expectations of God with our human experience.
But God doesn't operate with any of our human weaknesses.

We don't get into God's presence by thinking and praying, or wishing and hoping. We get into the presence of God by responding to the conviction that God exists, and by responding to the conviction that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him because they refuse to live apart from His presence. Faith, however, is not self‐generated. Faith is Christ‐generated. We do not have to get our faith from some outside source. Jesus has already authored and distributed His faith to each of us.
And we do not have to blindly attempt to use this faith. Jesus stands ready to sustain and perfect our faith—to the extent we will let Him.

Part of the problem we have with faith is that we don't understand what “salvation” truly means. Salvation does not consist of saying a few words and filling out a decision card for Christ. Neither is salvation a place somewhere in your future. Eternal life is a relationship with Jesus that you step into. Eternal life is, in the simplest way I can explain it, living in the presence of God—whether now on this earth or later in Heaven.

I do not feel comfortable going back to this shop due to the many oversights or negligence in their work and not sure what is being done to my car while it is with them.

This is a more acoustic version of Barlow Girl's song "Never Alone." Sometimes we have fleeting doubts that God is really listening to us. But they don't last long. Hebrews 13:5 (the faith chapter) reminds us "I will never leave you nor forsake you." And 2 Corinthians 4:18 reminds us "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

All too often, we do not practice the kind of faith that we have available to us. Instead, we live in much the same way as those old‐covenant saints. We practice faith (if we even practice faith) in much the same way they did. We do it without opening our eyes and ears to what we are capable of seeing and hearing.
And what is it that we are capable of seeing and hearing? In the simplest way I can express this answer—as born‐again believers, we have the opportunity to carry the very presence of God within us.

The life changing power of the Gospel is the only hope for any person and the only hope for this fallen world! The treasure of the Gospel is placed in earthen vessels to prove and illustrate that the power is of God and not of the vessel. The treasure is placed in vessels that are insufficient, but God makes them sufficient by His power. This is to show that the excellence of the power is of God and not of us. The weaker the vessel the more of an opportunity God is given to show forth His power. That is why Paul boasts in his infirmities and weaknesses. These earthen vessels are hard pressed, perplexed, persecuted, and struck down! But by the power of God are kept from being crushed, in despair, forsaken, and destroyed! God allows His earthen vessels to go through this so the work of refinement and sanctification may be done in their lives. The Christian is also always dying through repentance and always delivered to death for Jesus sake through consecration. It is through repentance and consecration that the work of sanctification takes place in the life of the Christian. This is how one receives life. This is how they become like Christ and become like Him in the resurrection. By faith we see that our affliction is light and for a moment compared to the exceeding and eternal weight of glory!
